Guyanese Energy Company teams up with Canadian counterparts in major joint venture

Newly established Guyanese company; Pandora Energy has entered into a joint venture partnership with Coastal Safety Management Inc. and Safe Work Solutions Inc. of Canada to provide a range of services in the oil and gas industry.

The official announcement was made on Friday at the inaugural Guyana International Petroleum Exhibition and Summit (GIPEX) at the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown.

The 100 percent Guyanese-owned Pandora Energy will be providing a range of services such as project engineering for development of wells, identification, development, implantation and execution of Safety Management Systems, marine safety and compliance to maritime laws and regulations, among others.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Mahendra Bethune, Pandora Director, said Guyanese stand to benefit from training and capacity building and the company’s operations will contribute significantly to the economy. “In the coming years Guyanese will benefit through training…It’s very important that the monies come back to Guyana. This company, being 100 percent Guyanese-owned, will be paying taxes and employing Guyanese. We all know the multiplier effect,” he said.

CEO and Director Komal Ramnauth said the two Canadian companies bring a wealth of experience to the table that is sure to be of immense benefit to Pandora. “They have served companies like Exxon, Nalcor, Suncor, Husky Energy and many more,” he said.

Ramnauth said creating employment for Guyanese is a key focus of the company as it gears up to begin providing services.

Jeff Daniels, President of Safe Work Solutions Inc. said safety and standards are paramount and these factors will be a key focus in the provision of services to Guyana’s oil and gas industry. “We can take best practices from wherever they are. We simply take the best that is out there and we translate that down the line to make it work in the field,” he pointed out.

Safe Work Solutions, based in Newfoundland, specializes in the delivery of safe work systems and processes to both industry and government entities. Coastal Safety Management, also based in Newfoundland, has extensive experience in large-scale projects both at home and worldwide.
