Saipem contracts Guyanese company for shorebase services

Saipem America Incorporated has indicated that it will be contracting a Guyanese company to provide shore-base services for its operations in the Liza Field in the Stabroek Block.

The company – a tier one contractor of ExxonMobil Guyana – has been contracted to supply and install the risers and umbilicals connecting the subsea operations with the Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel.

Saipem on Thursday announced it “has assigned a letter of intent for a logistics base and for marine agency services to John Fernandes Limited in Georgetown, Guyana.”

The contract encompasses the receiving, storage, handling, and load out of pipelines and other project equipment, vessels and personnel for ExxonMobil’s Liza Phase I development.

Saipem, following the finalizing of the arrangement said the partnership “with a reputable and long established Guyanese company is the first step into Saipem’s plans for Guyana.”

The company has also pledged to adhere to local content policies saying “one of Saipem’s core values is the fostering of truthful and effective local content in every community in which it operates.”

Other ExxonMobil Tier I Contractors include SBM Offshore – contracted to supply and operate the FPSO – and TechnipFMC which will supply and install the subsea equipment including wellheads, manifolds and other seabed components.
