A discovery of accumulated natural gas was made by Brazil’s state-owned Petrobras, 32 kilometers off the coast of Colombia in the Uchuva-1 well.
The company announced Friday that the well was drilled at a water depth of approximately 830 meters, in the Tayrona Block.
It plans to continue activities in the block to evaluate the dimensions of the gas accumulation.
Petrobras owns a 44.44% operating stake in Tayrona, while Ecopetrol has a 55.56% stake.

The operator attributed the find to the consortium’s application of new technological solutions in the areas of geology and geophysics, added to their expertise in deepwater operations.
