ExxonMobil is moving forward with more drilling operations at the Fangtooth SE-1 well site in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.

OilNOW understands the Stena Carron rig will be engaged in the drilling activities situated approximately 100.8 nautical miles (186.6 kilometers) offshore, covering an area of 0.29 square nautical miles (1 square kilometer).

The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said in an April 14 notice that the drilling operations will conclude on August 31. This notice supersedes information provided in a previous notice on commencement of drilling operations at the well site, issued on March 1 of this year, MARAD said.

ExxonMobil made a discovery of approximately 164 feet (50 metres) of high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs in 2022, and another discovery this year of 200 feet of oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs at the Fangtooth SE-1 well approximately eight miles southeast of Fangtooth-1.

In January, Hess Corporation, a 30% stakeholder in the Stabroek Block, announced that the co-venturers are targeting Fangtooth as its seventh Stabroek Block development.

Fangtooth-1 was the first test of the deepwater horizon of the Lower Campanian and Santonian plays at Stabroek Block.
