ExxonMobil affiliate, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), is drilling yet another well, Kiru Kiru-1, at the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.
A notice from Guyana’s Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) stated March 14 as the start date for drilling activities, using the Stena Drill Max. These activities are expected to conclude on July 30.
Drilling activities have been ongoing at Pinktail-1 and Patwa-1 which are expected to conclude soon. Drilling of the Lukanani-1 well should have concluded on Tuesday, according to a MARAD notice.
Exploration activities in the Stabroek block have yielded more than 25 discoveries since 2015, altogether amounting to over 10 billion-oil equivalent barrels.
Energy co-director at Americas Market Intelligence (AMI), Arthur Deakin, said the unprecedentd results at Stabroek Block have been so impressive and consistent that it has created a numbing effect where operators and investors almost expect new discoveries to be made on a monthly basis.
