Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil, Darren Woods, will attend the International Energy Conference and Expo Guyana 2022, slated for February 15 to 18 at the Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown.

Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali will deliver the Keynote Address at the opening of the conference and will host the neighbouring President of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, and Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley.

“We wish to call on the private sector to get on board as we highlight development and opportunities in the oil and gas sector,” said Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat.

Meanwhile, CEO of the International Energy Conference and Expo Guyana, Angenie Abel said the organisers are excited to welcome ExxonMobil Guyana onboard. “ExxonMobil is a world-class energy producer and the leading developer of Guyana’s oil and gas resources, so it is important that their leadership extends to this conference and expo. In addition to the discussions around energy development, we also hope to stimulate dialog around issues of local content and capacity building and the development of a safety culture. ExxonMobil is a leader in these areas and a necessary voice at the table,” she stated.

President of ExxonMobil Guyana Alistair Routledge said Woods’ attendance is a testament of the company’s commitment to the country. “Partnerships of this nature go to the core of ExxonMobil’s presence in Guyana— adding value and contributing to a positive investment environment that creates benefits for Guyanese,” he said. “The theme of the conference underpins our commitment to fostering mutual understanding and cooperation on the issue of sustainability at every level.”
