TechnipFMC has reported further progress on Suriname’s GranMorgu offshore oil project following the delivery of critical subsea equipment.

The company said on August 4 that the first drilling equipment had departed. Key components needed to connect subsea infrastructure to the floating production, storage and offloading vessel have also been installed.

“The GranMorgu Project continues to make strong progress, with the delivery of critical subsea equipment supporting the next phase of execution,” TechnipFMC said in a LinkedIn post.

The company linked the progress to work completed during the project’s early stages.

“The departure of the first drilling equipment and the successful installation of key FPSO connection components demonstrate the impact of early collaboration, standardized engineering and disciplined execution,” it said.

TechnipFMC is working with project operator TotalEnergies to advance the offshore development.

“Together with TotalEnergies, we are helping bring one of Suriname’s most significant offshore developments closer to production,” the company said.

GranMorgu is Suriname’s first offshore oil development. It is located in Block 58 about 150 kilometers off the country’s coast.

The project will develop the Sapakara and Krabdagu discoveries. TotalEnergies operates Block 58 with APA Corporation and Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. as partners.

First oil is targeted for 2028.
