Guyana’s Minister of Business Dominic Gaskin will be travelling to the United Kingdom (UK) to meet with potential investors in a number of the South-American nation’s productive sectors, including the emerging petroleum industry.
The decision to send the Minister on the investor scoping venture was taken following a meeting between Guyanese President David Granger, former Leader of the House of Lords and representative to the United Nations (UN)Baroness Amos, and member of the House of Lords and entrepreneur, Lord Waheed Alli
The meeting took place on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at President Granger’s State House residence, Main Street, Georgetown.
A statement from the Ministry of the Presidency on the meeting revealed that during the discussion, the topic of investment opportunities in the petroleum sector, as well as “green energy sectors” was featured.
“At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed that Minister of Business, Mr Dominic Gaskin will travel to the United Kingdom to meet with potential investors and to expand on Guyana’s potential as an investment destination,” the statement divulged.
As of August 1, 2018, the Ministry of the Presidency took over responsibility of petroleum, with the establishment of the Ministry’s Department of Energy.
Not a bad decision. This is very good.
