ExxonMobil’s Stabroek Block projects have produced approximately 91 million barrels of crude, according to data from the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Petroleum Management Programme. Average output for the year is approximately 377,850 barrels per day (bpd). Liza 2, in particular, is demonstrating high volumes.

The Liza 1 project has generated approximately 36 million barrels at 148,330 bpd. Liza 2 has generated approximately 56 million barrels at 231,080 bpd for the full year, but with generally higher volumes in recent months.

The Ministry recently updated its chart interface used to display oil production data, after encountering glitches that rendered production information virtually unreadable for about a month. Following the update, the Ministry added oil production data for the month of August, excluding the volumes produced on August 31.

A dip in the latter half of August resulted in the 150,000 bpd Liza 1 project averaging 121,370 bpd for the month. Liza 2, on the other hand, demonstrated more stable, higher volumes than any other month, averaging 249,990 bpd. Notably, this project is demonstrating production levels that Exxon had planned for it to achieve after production optimisation (debottlenecking) activities planned for later this year. So, it is likely to produce much higher by year-end.

The Payara project is expected to achieve first oil in the final quarter of 2023. It is expected to take five months to ramp up to its nameplate capacity of 220,000 bpd.

The Stabroek Block is operated by ExxonMobil, which has a 45% stake. Hess (30%) and CNOOC (25%) are also stakeholders.
