Guyanese company wins two oil blocks in country’s first auction

Sispro Inc. – the lone Guyanese bidder in the country’s first auction has been awarded two blocks, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo announced at apress conference on Thursday.  

Sispro copped S3 and D2 blocks. Out of the 14 bids made in Guyana’s inaugural offshore licensing round, Sispro was the only individual bidder, with others bidding as groups.

The other awards are as follows: 

  1. S4 – TotalEnergies, Qatar Energy, and Petronas 
  2. S5 –  International Group Investment Inc. and Montego Energy
  3. S7 – Liberty Petroleum Corporation and Cybele Energy
  4. S8 – ExxonMobil, Hess, and CNOOC
  5. S10 – International Group Investment Inc. and Montego Energy
  6. D1 – Delcorp Inc., Watad Energy and Arabian Drillers

The next step is for the government to begin negotiations with the awardees.
