Halliburton is set to support bp’s first appraisal campaign on the Bumerangue discovery offshore Brazil after securing an integrated contract for the deepwater program.
The contract, announced by Halliburton on August 25, brings together drilling and evaluation services under a single execution model as bp works to gather more information on the discovery.
Halliburton will provide an integrated package designed to improve reservoir evaluation while reducing the complexity of the drilling campaign. The company will also deploy its LOGIX™ automation and remote operations technology.
Halliburton said the work will combine data, artificial intelligence and advanced drilling technologies to provide real-time information during the campaign.

The Bumerangue discovery is part of bp’s offshore Brazil portfolio. Discovered in 2025, the field lies 404 kilometers (251 miles) offshore in 2,372 meters (7,782 feet) of water and spans more than 300 square kilometers of high-quality pre-salt carbonate rock. The well was drilled to a total depth of 5,855 meters (19,209 feet). bp holds 100% participation in the block, with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. as the Production Sharing Contract manager.
The project forms part of a broader string of 2025 exploration successes for bp, including discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Namibia through Azule Energy, its joint venture with Eni.
In November 2025, bp said the discovery strengthens its long-term strategy to grow a “material, advantaged production hub in Brazil,” where it has operated for more than 50 years and currently holds interests in six offshore blocks.
