The Noble Voyager drillship has commenced drilling at the Sloanea-2 well at Block 52, Staatsolie told OilNOW.

This follows the completion of drilling operations at the Fusaea-1 well

Petronas has opted to extend its contract with Noble Corporation for the Voyager to drill the additional Sloanea-1 well. It has already made a major oil discovery at the Roystonea-1 well in November 2023 and a gas discovery at the Sloanea-1 well in 2020, both demonstrating promising reservoir qualities in the Campanian sandstone formations.

Block 52 offers potential for further development offshore Suriname, following TotalEnergies’ announcement of plans to develop Block 58 resources.

Spanning 4,749 square kilometers in the Guyana-Suriname Basin, Block 52 is operated by Petronas with a 50% interest, while ExxonMobil holds the remaining 50%.
