ExxonMobil Guyana President Alistair Routledge said the planned Longtail development is tied to Guyana reaching oil production capacity of 1.7 million barrels per day (b/d) by 2030, as projects continue to advance in the Stabroek Block.

He spoke on Monday, May 4, at the U.S.-Guyana Business Exchange Reception at the Grand Tuscany Hotel in Houston.

Routledge said the Longtail project, which is being discussed with the Government of Guyana, underpins the end-of-decade production outlook.\

Guyana is currently producing more than 900,000 b/d from four offshore developments. A fifth project, Uaru, is expected to start before the end of this year.

“The next production facility is expected to start up before the end of this year, taking Guyana over one million b/d,” Routledge said.

He added that additional sanctioned developments will add to output as they come online ahead of the Longtail development.

“It’s taken partnership… that partnership between ExxonMobil, our partners… and the government of Guyana has been fundamental,” he said.

Longtail is the first development offshore Guyana that will focus on the production of non-associated gas, with all projects before it developing oil fields.

The Longtail project is expected to target gas production at a rate of up to 1.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) and condensate production of about 250,000 barrels per day (b/d).
