SBM Offshore is providing the opportunity for Guyanese to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to work onboard Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels operating offshore the South American country, through its Trainee Technician Programme. This aligns with the company’s goal to build local capacity and better equip Guyanese for work in the oil and gas industry.

According to a notice published by the company, the Programme is open to semi-skilled mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and production technicians as well as those with technical and engineering diplomas and degrees from all regions who possess certification from a recognised institute of related studies.

Candidates will be exposed to safety and technical competencies through an onshore and offshore learning environment.

SBM Offshore is a global leader in floating solutions for the oil and gas industry and celebrates its fifth year of operation in Guyana. The company was contracted by ExxonMobil to build, operate, lease, and maintain the Liza Destiny, Liza Unity and Prosperity FPSOs for oil production operations offshore Guyana.

SBM Offshore has said it is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer, and is committed to local content development, as well as safe and responsible operations in Guyana.
