TGS, a global leader in energy data and intelligence, has launched advanced imaging centers in collaboration with Petrobras, Brazil’s state energy giant, to enhance Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) and 4D imaging capabilities for the Campos and Santos basins.
The centers, located at Petrobras’s offices in Rio de Janeiro, will utilize TGS’ cutting-edge imaging solutions, combining on-premises and cloud-based hardware for highly precise data processing. The company said that geoscientists from both companies will work together to optimize exploration and production strategies.

“The establishment of these imaging centers marks a significant milestone in our collaboration with Petrobras,” Wadii El Karkouri, Executive Vice President of Imaging and Technology at TGS said.
He added, “By combining TGS’ imaging expertise and technologies with Petrobras’s operational excellence, we are poised to uncover new opportunities for Brazil’s energy sector. This investment also reinforces our long-standing commitment to building local capabilities and resources in the region.”
Central to the initiative is TGS’ 4D Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) technology, which enhances reservoir monitoring and characterization by providing superior subsurface clarity.

TGS said the imaging centers will also employ hybrid 4D solutions that integrate data from Streamer, OBN, and Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) technologies to deliver comprehensive subsurface insights.
The advancements, TGS added, aim to address key challenges in Brazil’s offshore oil and gas industry, supporting Petrobras in improving production performance, optimizing resource recovery, and advancing sustainable energy development.
