Trinidad targets local skills growth with Heritage graduate intake

Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to widen its local talent pool as Heritage Petroleum Company Limited opened applications for its 2026–2028 graduate training programme.

The State-owned producer said the intake is aimed at developing nationals for roles across its onshore and offshore operations. The programme was announced this week and applications close on January 18.

Heritage is “inviting talented, innovative, passionate and suitably qualified persons to apply for the 2026–2028 graduate training programme.”

Graduates will be recruited in engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, process, reservoir and petroleum, geoscience, computer science and information technology, marketing and communications, economics, finance, facilities management, health, safety and environment, human resources management, law, nautical science and maritime operations, and supply chain management and procurement.

The company said applicants must be nationals of Trinidad and Tobago, hold at least a first degree relevant to Heritage’s operations from a recognized institution, and have a minimum GPA of 3.5. The programme is targeted at new graduates, with Heritage stating that applicants should have “no prior working experience”.

The graduate intake forms part of the country’s broader effort to build domestic capability in energy, logistics, corporate services and maritime functions, as Trinidad and Tobago positions its workforce to meet future industry needs.

Applications are being accepted online, with the deadline set for Sunday, January 18.
