ExxonMobil Guyana is now a gold sponsor for the 2025 edition of ECONOME, a business conference and mixer founded by Matthew Gaul, a 27-year-old business enthusiast on a mission to boost education and opportunities.

Gaul said, “[Exxon’s] support sends a powerful message of confidence in the potential of Guyana’s entrepreneurs and reinforces the importance of investing in local talent and innovation.”

The ECONOME Business Conference & Mixer 2025 is set to take place on July 4-6, at the Guyana Marriott Hotel.

Under the theme ‘Injections for Business Growth’, ECONOME plans to use the weekend of activities to stimulate economic development in Guyana, giving participants an opportunity for networking, mentorship, education and opportunity sharing.

“Now in its fourth year, the ECONOME Business Conference has become one of Guyana’s leading platforms for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (SMEs), young professionals, and aspiring business leaders,” ECONOME said in a release.

This year, the conference has an ‘ECONOME Pitch Competition, where selected entrepreneurs will compete before a panel of judges, presenting business ideas to win GY$1,000,000 in seed funding.

ExxonMobil has previously sponsored events such as the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo and the Local Content Summit, aiming not only to support the oil sector but also to stimulate economic opportunity in non-oil industries. The company and its Stabroek Block co-venturers are also partners in the US$100 million Greater Guyana Initiative, which supports long-term capacity building and economic diversification.
