Noble Discoverer rig to stay offshore Colombia under extended Petrobras contract

Noble Corporation has secured a 390-day contract extension from Petrobras Colombia for its Noble Discoverer semi-submersible rig.

In an April 10 LinkedIn post, Noble said the extension pushes operations through to around August 14, 2026.

Petrobras also holds an unpriced option to extend the contract further into Q3 2027, according to Noble.

The original agreement between the two companies was signed in December 2023.

The Noble Discoverer rig, built by KFELS in Singapore in 2009, is capable of operating in water depths of up to 10,000 ft.

It has a maximum drilling depth rating of 40,000 ft.

Noble’s operations in Guyana are primarily tied to the Stabroek Block. Four drillships—Noble Tom Madden, Noble Sam Croft, Noble Don Taylor, and Noble Bob Douglas— are currently in operation there.
