The accolade was presented to Jean Paul Prates, President of Petrobras, and Carlos Travassos, Director of Engineering, Technology, and Innovation, by Schneider Electric’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Herweck.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Prates emphasized Petrobras’ dedication to decarbonization, stating, “Decarbonization is a priority for Petrobras, and we want to make further progress in reducing our emissions and engaging our supply chain. We know that the goal of emissions neutrality depends on great cooperation between all sectors of society.”
Petrobras plans to invest US$11.5 billion over the next five years in projects aimed at decarbonizing operations, expanding biorefining, developing renewables, and venturing into new low-carbon businesses. The company’s initiatives include leveraging digitalization to reduce energy consumption, electrifying operations, and engaging supply chain partners in decarbonization efforts.
The award highlights Petrobras’ proactive approach to sustainability, particularly its focus on supply chain engagement programs to promote decarbonization among suppliers. Petrobras collaborates with its suppliers through awareness-raising actions, events, training, and participation in programs such as the CDP Supply Chain program, which encourages transparency and emission mapping.
