Stena Drilling announced it has drilled 50 Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) wells and logged just under 4,000 MPD well days.
In a recent post on LinkedIn, Stena said the figure represents over 10 rig years of MPD operations using Surface Backpressure and Controlled Mud Level techniques across its fleet.

“This is a fantastic milestone and, given the size of our fleet, makes us one of, if not the most prolific MPD drilling contractors in the deepwater industry,” MPD Manager Nick Ward said. “It’s a testament to our rig teams who have embraced MPD as a key enabler for our industry to help deliver the most complex wells safely and efficiently for our clients.”
Stena Drilling has installed MPD systems on the Stena Carron, Stena IceMAX, and Stena DrillMAX, and plans to add MPD capability to the Stena Forth.
