TotalEnergies has awarded Tenaris a contract to supply casing, tubing, and Rig Direct® services for the GranMorgu project, Suriname’s first major offshore oil development.
Tenaris said it will supply around 47,000 tons of casing and tubing featuring TenarisHydril Blue® and Wedge™ Series connections. The supply includes 13 Chrome steel grades and Dopeless® technology, which enhances safety and efficiency offshore, a July 21 release from the company outlined.
The contract also includes Rig Direct® services such as demand planning, pipe management, pipe preparation, and handling of surplus tubulars. Tenaris will operate from a leased yard in Suriname to support these activities.

In addition, Saipem, contracted by TotalEnergies for EPCI services, has selected Tenaris to supply 37,000 tons (190 km) of coated carbon steel seamless pipes. These will be used for subsea flowlines and water and gas injection lines.
The pipelines will be deployed at depths of up to 1,100 meters using S-Lay and J-Lay vessels.
Production and coating will take place at Tenaris facilities in Italy and Mexico. The work will be executed under the One Line® model, integrating project management and ensuring adaptability.

Tenaris President (Europe), Michele Della Briotta, said they are “delighted that our customers have recognized the value created through the integration of Shawcor’s coatings and expertise within the Tenaris portfolio”. He said this contributed to the award of this important contract.
He added, “The GrandMorgu project will leverage our comprehensive One Line® package, fully integrating the supply of line pipe and coatings. This will play a key role in advancing the development of one of the region’s most promising deepwater basins.”
Located 150 kilometers off Suriname’s coast, GranMorgu is expected to begin producing oil in 2028. Production will reach 220,000 barrels per day through wells tied to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
