Vallourec has secured two additional line pipe orders from ExxonMobil Guyana Limited for the Hammerhead and Longtail projects in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.
The company announced the contracts on May 20, 2026. The orders were awarded under a long-term agreement signed with ExxonMobil Guyana in 2021.
Vallourec will supply more than 145 kilometers of coated line pipe for the two deepwater projects. The scope represents about 40,000 metric tons of line pipe. Of that total, 90 kilometers, or 22,000 metric tons, will be insulated with ExxonMobil’s Proxxima™ resin systems with GDLX™ subsea insulation technology.
The contracts also cover anticorrosion coatings and pipes cladded with corrosion resistant alloy weld overlay.
Vallourec said it has become the first licensee of Proxxima™ resin systems with GDLX™ subsea insulation technology. The technology is licensed by ExxonMobil for commercial deployment.
To support the work, Vallourec will upgrade its Vallourec Coating Solutions plant in Serra, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The company said the insulation system provides stronger thermal performance than conventional insulation systems. It uses a single-layer molded design that can be applied directly to bare steel, allowing faster pipe insulation turnaround time.
Vallourec also said the insulation offers improved cool-down times. This helps operators reduce costs linked to mitigation measures during extended shutdowns, including inhibitor injection or dead-oil circulation.
“These new contracts further reinforce Vallourec’s strategic positioning as a key supplier to ExxonMobil Guyana Limited,” Vallourec Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Philippe Guillemot stated.
He said the orders, together with the company’s investment in the insulation technology, show Vallourec’s ability to deliver advanced thermal insulation solutions.
“Leveraging our industrial footprint in Brazil, these projects highlight not only the operational excellence of our teams but also the strength of our fully integrated industrial value chain—from production to premium finishing and coating capabilities,” Guillemot noted.
Hammerhead is ExxonMobil’s seventh approved development in the Stabroek Block and is expected to start production in 2029. Longtail is being advanced as a future Stabroek Block project. ExxonMobil Guyana operates the block with a 45% interest, alongside Hess with 30% and CNOOC with 25%.
