The inaugural Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit & Exhibition (GIPEX 2018) will now be held on February 7-9, 2018. The summit, originally scheduled for November this year, will open strategic dialogue and place the South American country as a favorable and pro-business destination, organizers say.

OilNOW understands the new date was decided on based on a number of factors, including the need to allow for more planning to involve a higher degree of participation from the Guyanese business community.

Key speakers at the opening of the signature event will include Guyana’s President, David Granger, Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman and a number of other officials representing the private sector and other stakeholders.

The summit, being organized by UK-based Valiant Business Media in collaboration with the Guyana government, is intended to present investors with options to explore the huge potential of Guyana. It will provide an excellent networking platform for existing petroleum companies, service providers, equipment companies and investors through which interested parties will be informed about opportunities and developments in the sector, and industries.

The event will bring together senior level decision and policy makers from the
Global Petroleum Industry and will focus on trade and investment opportunities in Guyana in this emerging sector. The Summit will also provide a platform for researchers/scientists and academic people to share and globalize their research work while the participants from industry can promote their products thus facilitating dissemination of knowledge.

Guyana’s first major oil and gas conference and exhibition was held in March 2017 and was organised by the Guyana Oil and Gas Association (GOGA).

The country is set to become a key oil producer in the region, with production scheduled to begin in 2020 by US super-major, ExxonMobil.
