The drillship Noble Don Taylor will be moving from the Liza Field to the Redtail-1 well site within the prolific Stabroek Block as ExxonMobil continues its search for more oil offshore Guyana.
A notice to mariners published in the local press states that the drill campaign is expected to conclude on September 4.
ExxonMobil has since confirmed to OilNOW that Redtail is a new prospect being targeted on the block. The well site is located approximately 103 nautical miles off the coast of the new oil producing South American country.
The Redtail-1 drill campaign will incorporate the use of 20 vessels, in addition to the Noble Don Taylor.
ExxonMobil announced its 16th oil discovery at the Stabroek Block on January 27. The oil strike was made at the Uaru well located approximately 10 miles (16 kilometres) northeast of the Liza field which began producing oil in December 2019.
The company, in announcing the Uaru discovery, said it had increased the estimated resource for the Stabroek Block to more than eight billion oil-equivalent barrels.
