The transformation in global oil and gas economies indicate that now, more than ever, is the time to bring the industry together to examine and overcome unprecedented challenges while uncovering and exploring available opportunities in the Caribbean markets.

This, the organisers of the inaugural Caribbean Virtual Oil and Gas Summit (CARIVS) say, is the key motivation behind staging the event, set to take place on September 15 – 17.

“All systems are in place for the opening of this major oil and gas event,” said Shariq AbdulHai, Director of Valiant Business Media, the company staging the event.

He told OilNOW CARIVS is bringing together key industry players, regulators, government officials and private sector representatives to discuss the state of the industry, regional potential for development of hydrocarbon resources and the major emerging markets such as Guyana and Suriname.

“We have on board some of the largest oil and gas companies in the world and will be hearing from key stakeholders from government and the private sector,” AbdulHai said. “Guyana continues to attract major attention as the number one location for offshore exploration and production activities.”

With well over 8 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources found offshore Guyana since 2015 and its entrance to the league of oil producing countries last December, the South American nation has led the way in deepwater exploration in the Guyana-Suriname basin. The success offshore Guyana has served to de-risk the basin, paving the way for the major success that is now unfolding offshore Suriname.

The opening segment of the event on Tuesday will see a keynote address by Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, Guyana’s Natural Resources Minister, Vickram Bharrat and Chairman of Guyana’s Private Sector Commission, Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer.

Key presentations will be made by Alistair Routledge, ExxonMobil Guyana President, Tina Riley, Exploration Manager for ExxonMobil, Guyana and Suriname, Michiel Heuven, Regional Head of Operations, North America and Caribbean, SBM Offshore, Sonya Boodoo, Vice President, Upstream Research, Rystad Energy, among others.

The opening segment of the event will be streamed live via the OilNOW Facebook page beginning at 9:00 hrs on Tuesday, September 15.
