Reinstallation of components of the flash gas compression system is progressing offshore Guyana on the Liza Destiny FPSO.
ExxonMobil Guyana, operator at the Stabroek block, said in an update on Tuesday that critical equipment alignments, lifting of the suction silencer and piping into place and key operating parameter improvements are to be completed.
“The team remains focused on safety and is working diligently for the successful start-up of the flash gas compressor in keeping with our previously stated timeline,” Public and Government Affairs Advisor, Janelle Persaud said. The company had said at the beginning of February that it would take approximately 8 weeks for the equipment to be repaired, returned and reinstalled.
The gas compressor had encountered difficulties on the Liza Destiny FPSO during oil production operations on January 27 and was sent for repairs to MAN Energy Solutions in Germany.
A detailed assessment had found that an axial vibration of the compressor rotor was the initiating event that led to the issues.
