The MODU Stena DrillMax will be used to continue development drilling activities at ExxonMobil Guyana’s Yellowtail well site in the offshore Stabroek Block.
An April 27 Notice to Mariners by the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said the exercise will conclude on July 31. The Stena DrillMax will be supported by 29 vessels.
The well site is situated at approximately 111.4 nautical miles (206.2 kilometres) off the Coast of Guyana and covers an area of 0.29 square kilometres (1 square kilometer.)
The vessel for the Yellowtail project – ONE GUYANA – recently entered dry dock at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore. Recent reports from Hess Chief Operations Officer (COO), Greg Gill indicate that the vessel is 45% complete.
“[Yellowtail] remains on track for 2025. Topside fabrication and installation activities have commenced,” he said.
The vessel is being designed to produce 250,000 barrels of oil per day, with an associated gas treatment capacity of 450 million cubic feet per day and water injection capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. The floater will be spread-moored in water depth of about 1,800 metres and will be able to store around two million barrels of crude oil.
The Yellowtail project will consist of drilling approximately 40 to 76 development wells.
