The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites stakeholders to learn about ExxonMobil Guyana Limited’s (EMGL) proposed Longtail and Hammerhead offshore oil projects. Details on the project, environmental assessments, and potential impacts will be provided through a series of public meetings.
For the Longtail development, meetings will be held from March 17 to 28, in multiple regions, an ExxonMobil newspaper notice advised. The EPA has released an environmental impact assessment (EIA) report from ExxonMobil for comments. The public has 28 days from the notice date (Mar. 9) to submit written remarks.
The Hammerhead development – ExxonMobil’s seventh offshore project – will have public sessions from March 17 to April 11. The environmental impact statement (EIS) findings will be presented, and attendees can engage with experts on the approval process.
The EIAs and EIS will be accessible at the EPA’s designated offices and online portals. The public is encouraged to participate and submit feedback before decisions are made.
