Now in its fifth year, the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit (SEOGS) has grown into one of the most significant energy events in the Caribbean and South American region.

What began as a relatively contained forum for industry and government dialogue has evolved into a large-scale platform that combines policy discussion, technical exchange and commercial networking. This year, that evolution is reflected in a shift in its physical setting.

SEOGS 2025 will be held at Roeli’s Event Venue in the South of Paramaribo on Kronenburgweg, replacing the long-standing venue at Hotel Torarica. The decision to relocate comes amid rising attendance and a more complex event structure.

“Roeli’s Event Venue has been specially adapted to accommodate the growing event, with dedicated space for networking, presentations and exhibition stands,” the organizers said this week.

The event has expanded considerably since its launch in 2021. What started as a modest regional gathering now hosts two parallel conferences: a three-day Technical Conference and a four-day Executive Summit, both running simultaneously at the same venue. This dual-track format accommodates a broad range of participants, from policymakers and energy executives to engineers and service providers.

Organizers anticipate more than 12,000 visitors and over 250 participating companies this year. The new location offers a single, larger space to house all tracks and exhibitions, minimizing the need for attendees to move between separate buildings and allowing for a more cohesive schedule.

Roeli’s Event Venue is located along a busy road and traffic congestion is expected. According to statements from organizers, measures are being coordinated with local authorities to mitigate disruptions.

The venue change may seem like a logistical footnote but it illustrates the pace at which both SEOGS and Suriname’s energy ambitions are expanding. With a Final Investment Decision now in place for the country’s first deepwater oil project and additional drilling campaigns under way, the conversations hosted at SEOGS have grown more urgent and more complex. Whether this year’s event infrastructure will be able to support that shift remains to be seen.
