Fresh off of its 9th discovery offshore Guyana, US oil major ExxonMobil already has a new target in its cross-hairs and will aim to begin drilling operations around October this year.
The company says potential for additional production from significant undrilled targets in the South American country is high and it plans to ramp up exploration and appraisal drilling.
“A second exploration vessel – the Noble Tom Madden – is due to arrive in Guyana in October to accelerate exploration of high potential opportunities and will commence drilling at the Pluma prospect approximately 17 miles (27 kilometers) from Turbot,” the company said.
OilNOW understands that around 18 potential drilling prospects remain in the 6.6 million acres Stabroek Block where more than 4 billion barrels of oil have already been found by the oil major.
