TotalEnergies EP Suriname hosted a two-day workshop this week aimed at strengthening local participation in offshore supply vessel services as the country prepares for oil production from the GranMorgu project in Block 58.
Held on October 6–7 in collaboration with the Maritieme Autoriteit Suriname (MAS), the ‘Supply Vessel Services Workshop’ brought together local companies to discuss ways to improve readiness, safety, and capacity to participate in Suriname’s emerging offshore supply chain.
The first day of the event focused on the offshore industry context, including technical presentations on GranMorgu project demands, while the second day centered on strategic alignment and action planning.
A permanent task group was established to advance the workshop’s outcomes, comprising representatives from TotalEnergies EP Suriname, MAS, the Association of Private Sector Enterprises (APA), CNB, Kepler Group, and DP World. Members include Susan Bansropansingh (TotalEnergies EP Suriname), Bryan Ristie (MAS), Wayne Martoredjo (APA), Amanda Sheombar (CNB), Nigel Sloot (Kepler Group), and Cherie Fränkel (DP World).
Classification societies DNV and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) were featured guests, delivering presentations on offshore quality standards, certification requirements, and international best practices.
TotalEnergies thanked the maritime authority and all participants for their engagement and contributions to what it described as a successful step toward developing local offshore service capabilities.
TotalEnergies is developing the GranMorgu project in Suriname’s Block 58, targeting first oil production of about 220,000 barrels per day by 2028.
