Guyana’s Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) issued a notice that ExxonMobil Guyana is continuing drilling operations at Fangtooth_2 within the Stabroek Block.
Fangtooth-1 unlocks new play; will ‘add significantly’ to 10-billion-barrel oil resource – Hess
This further demonstrates the Exxon-led consortium’s prioritisation of the Fangtooth discovery for its seventh development.
The Noble Don Taylor is being utilised to drill this well, which is expected to be wrapped up by the end of May.
ExxonMobil made a discovery of approximately 164 feet (50 metres) of high-quality oil bearing sandstone reservoirs in 2022, and another discovery of 200 feet of oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs at the Fangtooth SE-1 well approximately eight miles southeast of Fangtooth-1.
ExxonMobil has a 45% operating stake in the Stabroek Block, where it has discovered 11 billion oil-equivalent barrels. Hess (30%) and CNOOC (25%) are its co-venturers.
