Exxon successfully spuds Ranger-1

ExxonMobil began exploratory drilling operations at the Ranger-1 well site in the Stabroek Block, offshore Guyana on Friday.

The Ranger-1 drill site is located approximately 160 nautical miles off the coast of Guyana and covers an area of one square kilometer.

OilNOW understands drilling will continue until the end of December and the company will begin assessing the results early next year.

Ranger-1 follows similar operations at Turbot-1, located 107 nautical miles offshore. ExxonMobil announced on October 5 that a reservoir of 75 feet (23 meters) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone was detected at Turbot, making it the company’s 5th oil discovery in the South American country.
