Kanuku Block operator, Repsol, is conducting environmental surveys at the Beebei-1 well site, according to an August 4 notice by Guyana’s Maritime Administration (MARAD).
It said the exercise which commenced in early August, will conclude by the end of the month, utilising the OSV Atlantic Spirit vessel.
Repsol had drilled the Beebei-Potaro well last year. The well was targeting around 200 million barrels of recoverable resources with two main objectives and one secondary objective. The main objectives included one in the Tertiary (Oligocene) and one in the Upper Cretaceous (Upper Campanian). The Noble Regina Allen drilled and encountered good quality reservoir in the primary and secondary targets but they were water-bearing.

Six wells were previously drilled in the Kanuku Block, namely Carapa-1, Jaguar-1, Berbice -2, Abary-1 and Mahaica-1 and 2.
Repsol is the operator of the Kanuku licence with a 37.5% working interest. Tullow holds 37.5% with TOQAP holding 25%.
