Seatrium has awarded the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) a classification contract for Petrobras’ newbuild floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) platforms, P-84 and P-85. Final delivery is expected by 2029. These are the first FPSOs following the ABS and Seatrium Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA), aimed at promoting decarbonization, digitalization, and innovation in the offshore industry.

Seatrium said the FPSOs will feature technologies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact, including zero routine flaring and venting, variable speed drives, and CO2 emissions control. An all-electric concept aims for a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity compared to traditional designs.
“This is an exciting moment for the industry, and we are delighted to work with Seatrium on brand-new, state-of-the-art designs,” said Christopher J. Wiernicki, ABS Chairman. “These new units are much-needed assets that will be ready to meet the demand, support the energy transition, and incorporate digitalization.”
