CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited (CPGL) has announced plans to establish a new data storage and sharing platform to meet the growing collaborative needs of its global workforce. This system will enhance CPGL’s capacity to manage increased production and development activities in Guyana, the company said in a public Request for Information (RFI).
The project involves installing a comprehensive computing platform with large-capacity storage, backup systems, and software for virtualization and management. It will also include an enhanced data access and sharing system with features like version management, cross-platform support, and security logging.

Additionally, CPGL plans to implement significant upgrades to its network security, featuring firewalls, an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attack warning platform.
Upgrades to environmental control systems will ensure stable server operations, supported by improved power and air conditioning systems. The project will also involve the procurement, installation, and debugging of equipment from CPGL-approved brands to guarantee compatibility with existing systems.

The contracting company for the project must have international certification and a minimum of five years of experience in IT project construction.
With its headquarters located in Georgetown, CPGL holds a 25% working interest in the offshore Stabroek Block, alongside ExxonMobil and Hess.
