Chinese contractor Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) has launched the Errea Wittu floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, Upstream Online said on Dec. 26.

It is the fifth FPSO designed for ExxonMobil’s Stabroek Block offshore Guyana.

The vessel will develop the Snoek, Mako, and Uaru fields, targeting an initial production rate of 250,000 barrels of oil per day. ExxonMobil contracted MODEC to deliver the FPSO and oversee operations and maintenance for ten years after production begins.

DSIC recently installed the emergency generator motor and expects electrical commissioning to start soon. “The emergency generator system of the Errea Wittu is highly complex with stringent inspection standards,” DSIC stated in a December 22 update.

Electrical commissioning involves phases such as safety checks, integration, and performance validation. MODEC said the Errea Wittu FPSO will be one of the most sustainable FPSOs in the world.
