ExxonMobil Guyana today announced that the country’s daily oil production has reached a new milestone of 900,000 barrels per day, following the ramp-up of the Yellowtail project to full capacity.
Yellowtail, Guyana’s fourth offshore development, has achieved its designed production rate of 250,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd). This, combined with strong operational performance from Liza Phase 1, Liza Phase 2, and Payara, has propelled national output to this record level.
Yellowtail began operations on August 8 – four months ahead of schedule, with the SBM-Offshore built ONE GUYANA FPSO.
“We continue to safely deliver industry-leading performance, providing the oil and gas the world still demands,” said Alistair Routledge, President of ExxonMobil Guyana. “Guyana’s story is one of continuous achievements because of the close collaboration with the Government of Guyana, our co-venturers, suppliers, contractors, and employees. Together, we are building a world-class energy sector that is delivering significant value for the people of Guyana.”

The Stabroek Block co-venturers have invested over US$60 billion to develop seven government-approved projects, including Uaru, Whiptail, and Hammerhead.
The Uaru and Whiptail developments, expected to start up in 2026 and 2027, will each produce around 250,000 bopd. Hammerhead, the seventh project, is projected to add 150,000 bopd when it begins production in 2029.
An eighth project, Longtail, is currently under regulatory review. Once sanctioned, total production capacity from the Stabroek Block is expected to reach 1.7 million barrels per day by 2030.
ExxonMobil Guyana operates the Stabroek Block with a 45% interest, while Hess holds 30% and CNOOC owns 25%.
