ExxonMobil Guyana on Saturday, January 27, launched “The Big Red Bus Tour” aimed at boosting community engagement. Part of it was a GY$10 million giveaway competition, with an MG car as the grand prize.
Local artistes, Poonam Singh, Jackie Jaxx and CKush, headlined the well-attended event at the Amazonia Mall, Providence on Jan. 27.
The trio gave dazzling and energy-filled performances of their Guyana-themed hits, setting the tone for the initiative, which will be making multiple stops across the country.

Given the opportunity to belt out his popular hit Moco-Moco, CKush expressed thanks to ExxonMobil for putting Guyana’s local talent to good use.
“…not looking out [of] the country for resources when we got the talent right here and we got the oil right here,” he commented.
According to Exxon, the tour’s destinations will stretch across seven of Guyana’s administrative regions. Exxon staffers will meet people to learn more about their culture and the country’s heritage.

“En route, the bus will stop for public engagements at multiple locations, including several national sites, to celebrate their historical significance,” the company said.
ExxonMobil Guyana’s Public and Government Affairs Manager, Matthew Scharf, noted, “It’s important to us to engage with communities regularly and continuously. Our Big Red Bus Tour is an opportunity for people across the country to engage with ExxonMobil staff, for us to get to know them, to share more about our operations and the initiatives we have in Guyana, and to answer questions. It’s also an opportunity for us to learn more about this beautiful country and its heritage.”
The tour will culminate in Georgetown with the grand prize draw on March 16.
Exxon said the competition is open to all Guyanese over 18 currently residing in any region of Guyana and can be entered by scanning a QR code available on the Big Red Bus, as well as on ExxonMobil Guyana’s social media platforms and website.
Promotional activities, including the Big Red Bus Tour, are not cost recoverable under the Production Sharing Agreement Exxon has with Guyana.
