While there have been no reported injuries, a fire on January 2, 2019 at a Noble Energy site in Reeves County, Texas damaged three oil tanks which were still burning late Wednesday morning, a report from Upstream Online stated.

Three oil tanks were still burning late Wednesday morning after catching fire earlier in the day, a local official said.

A Reeves County Emergency Services official told Upstream Reports that the blaze began at about 3 a.m. and a passerby who works in the oilfield industry saw the fire and activated the emergency shutdown system for the well feeding the tanks. The official said the passerby does not work for Noble.

According to the report, the well was still shut in and the oil in the tanks was being allowed to burn off.

The official reported no other damage and said that the site is on desolate land.

“Noble Energy in a statement said the local fire department had established a security perimeter after assessing the location. The company said it will investigate the cause of the fire,” the report said.
