The past year showed a significant increase in licensing activity with a large number of lease rounds announced and the number of awarded licensing rounds rising for the third year in a row. The Mediterranean region was the hotspot, followed by South America and Africa in terms of licensing activity, Rystad Energy said in a January 17 report.
