Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority Godfrey Statia told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday that oil companies would not be allowed to evade paying taxes under his watch.
The head of the South American country’s tax body was at the time responding to questions from reporters about GRA’s preparedness to police the sector, particularly in light of a recent report in the media about petroleum companies allegedly evading hundreds of millions in withholding taxes in neighbouring Trinidad and Tobago.
