The GranMorgu offshore project has entered full subsea build-out mode, with multiple subsea Christmas Trees (XTs) completed, according to a March 30 update by TotalEnergies Suriname General Manager Artur Nunes da Silva.
The project recorded its first XT completion in December 2025. Since then, progress has accelerated. Nunes da Silva said, “We have now moved fully into production mode: XTs #1 to #4 are completed, XT #5 is in assembly, XT #6 is already underway and XT #7 assembly is starting.”
XTs are critical subsea systems installed on the seabed to control hydrocarbon flow from wells. They also support monitoring, safety, and intervention over the life of a field.

Nunes da Silva described each completed unit as a key technical step. “Completing an XT represents a significant technical achievement for GranMorgu,” he said, noting it confirms equipment is assembled, tested, and compliant with specifications.
The update follows a recent visit by TotalEnergies’ project team to TechnipFMC’s Nusa Jaya plant in Malaysia, where fabrication is ongoing. “The visit confirmed the readiness of the fabrication activities and the solid alignment with GranMorgu’s upcoming execution phases,” Nunes da Silva stated.

Next steps include a Stack Up Test scheduled for April to validate integrated system performance. Da Silva added, “In the second semester is scheduled, the arrival of the first batch of XTs in Suriname,” alongside continued manufacturing of remaining units.
TotalEnergies is leading the development of Suriname’s first offshore project, GranMorgu. The field will feature subsea wells tied back to an all-electric drive floating production, storage and offloading vessel being delivered by SBM Offshore in partnership with Technip Energies.
The vessel will have a production capacity of 220,000 barrels per day. First oil is expected in 2028. Operator TotalEnergies holds a 50% interest in Block 58 offshore Suriname. APA Corporation holds the remaining 50%.
