Guyana’s Natural Resource Fund (NRF) received US$253 million (GY$53 billion) in February from the sale of the country’s share of crude produced offshore, adding to the steady flow of oil revenues that continue to build the country’s sovereign wealth fund.
The deposit reflects proceeds from crude cargoes marketed on behalf of the government. Under the Stabroek Block production sharing agreement, Guyana receives a share of profit oil and a two percent royalty on production. These barrels are sold on the international market, with the proceeds transferred to the NRF.
The Guyana government will withdraw US$2.37 billion (GY$495 billion) from the fund over the course of the year in tranches. No withdrawals were recorded from the fund during January or February.
At the end of February, the NRF held US$3.82 billion (GY$796 billion), according to the latest Bank of Guyana report.
Guyana’s oil revenues are expected to rise further this year as production expands and the number of crude cargoes increases. The government anticipates 309 oil lifts in 2026, up from 260 cargoes in 2025, with each shipment averaging roughly one million barrels.
Based on the State’s share of those cargoes, oil revenues to the government are projected at about US$2.79 billion in 2026, including earnings from oil sales and royalties.
Production growth continues to drive those inflows. ExxonMobil produced an average of 716,000 barrels per day (b/d) in Guyana during 2025 and expanded production capacity to more than 900,000 b/d later in the year as the Yellowtail project stabilized.
Four floating production vessels are currently operating in the Stabroek Block: Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, Prosperity, and ONE GUYANA. Another vessel, Errea Wittu, is expected to begin production later this year, adding further capacity.
