Following the success of the inaugural Local Content Summit in 2023, the 2024 Summit is set to take place on April 16, 2024, at the prestigious Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre. With the theme “Creating Value. Driving Economic Expansion,” the Summit aims to unite key stakeholders from various sectors.

The Summit is a joint effort between MBW Energy Support Services Inc., Prestige Management Consultants, and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Local Content Secretariat. This collaboration is focused on sustainable development in Guyana’s oil and gas industry.

“We are thrilled to continue the momentum of the Local Content Summit with our 2024 edition,” said Abbigale Loncke-Watson, President of MBW Energy Support Services Inc. “This event serves as a crucial platform for advancing our collective understanding of how local content initiatives can drive economic expansion and create lasting value for Guyana.”

The 2024 Summit aims to bring together policymakers, regulatory and support agencies and organizations, educators, operators and sub-contractors, industry experts, vendors/suppliers, investors, and the local private sector, among other stakeholders.

The agenda includes insights from various speakers through presentations, panel discussions, and testimonials, focusing on crucial aspects of the Local Content Act, such as supply chain management, procurement strategies, employment policies, capacity development initiatives, and market analysis. Organizers say the goal is to equip attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of Local Content certification and strategies to leverage current and upcoming opportunities.

Guyana’s Local Content Act was legislated at the end of 2021, mandating the utilization of Guyanese goods and services across 40 sectors. Since its inception, the Act has resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars being secured for Guyanese businesses.
