MODEC to open 32 procurement opportunities for Guyanese firms over next 5 months

MODEC Guyana is set to open a series of procurement opportunities as it works to deliver a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for operation offshore Guyana.

The Local Content Secretariat revealed a list of 32 opportunities that form part of MODEC’s plans. 

“We encourage the private sector to make the most of these opportunities. By providing these notices ahead of the actual advertisement, we want to ensure that Guyanese have sufficient time to prepare,” the Secretariat’s Director, Martin Pertab said. 

He said the Secretariat will reveal more opportunities from other major Tier 1 companies in the new week,

ExxonMobil hired MODEC to deliver the FPSO for the fifth Stabroek Block oil development offshore Guyana. MODEC said the Errea Wittu FPSO will be one of the most sustainable FPSOs in the world.

The Errea Wittu FPSO will develop the Snoek, Mako, and Uaru fields. The Errea Wittu is expected to target an initial oil production rate of 250,000 barrels per day (b/d). MODEC will also provide Exxon with a decade-long service for operations and maintenance of the FPSO from its initial oil production.

The Errea Wittu will form part of the Uaru project, which is expected to achieve first oil in 2026.
