Schlumberger (SLB) has secured a significant five-year contract from Petrobras, one of Brazil’s largest oil and gas companies, for the enterprise-wide deployment of its cutting-edge Delfi™ digital platform.

The contract encompasses Petrobras’ complete digital transformation across exploration, development, and production operations. It involves migrating subsurface workflows to the cloud, enabling accelerated decision-making processes. This contract marks one of Petrobras’ most substantial investments in cloud-based technologies and establishes a crucial foundation for achieving its decarbonisation and net-zero targets.

With the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and high-performance computing technology from SLB, Petrobras aims to achieve remarkable efficiency gains and production increases throughout its exploration and production (E&P) business. Rakesh Jaggi, President of Digital & Integration at SLB, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that leveraging the Delfi platform will digitally transform Petrobras’ E&P workflows, enhance efficiency, and exemplify their commitment to sustainability and energy transition.

The implementation of the Delfi platform has already yielded impressive results, particularly in geological and geophysical (G&G) interpretation, according to SLB. Significant reductions in processing time have been achieved, with certain workflows experiencing a reduction from hours to minutes. For instance, the application of AI and machine learning has reduced fault interpretation time in petrophysical modeling workflows by an impressive 60%.
