ExxonMobil Guyana said this week that all rework and reassembly of the flash gas compressor that encountered challenges in January have been completed and the machine is now being prepared for testing at the MAN Energy Solutions workshop in Germany.

“Technical experts are finalizing upgrades to the suction silencer and recommendations for scope of repairs and potential upgrades to the discharge silencer,” Public and Government Affairs Advisor, Janelle Persaud said on Wednesday.

The gas compressor had encountered difficulties on the Liza Destiny FPSO during oil production operations on the night of January 27.

In addition to the repairs on the existing equipment, the company said an order has been placed for a new flash gas compressor which will be available closer to the end of the year, given the complex nature of the equipment.

The Liza Destiny FPSO began producing oil in December 2019 as part of Phase 1 of the Liza Development at the prolific Stabroek Block.
