TotalEnergies EP Suriname B.V. has launched the Suriname edition of its TotalEnergies Women’s Initiative for Communication & Exchange (TWICE). The initiative is aimed at advancing women’s careers, promoting gender awareness, and creating opportunities for learning, connection, and leadership. 

Artur Nunes da Silva, General Manager & Country Chair, TotalEnergies EP Suriname, announced in a LinkedIn post on January 30 that the launch took place on January 21.

It forms part of the company’s global TWICE network and is now established within the Suriname affiliate.

The launch event featured a panel discussion. Panelists included Vandana Gangaram Panday, Director of Staatsolie Hydrocarbon Institute; Maria del Carmen Ovando Melgar TotalEnergies Vice President of Business Development; and Nunes da Silva. Ovando Melgar also serves as President of TWICE Suriname.

“At the end of the day diversity is not a women’s issue; it is an organizational priority that drives better decision making and stronger performance.”

Nunes da Silva said the discussion explored allyship, representation, and shared responsibility among men and women. He expressed appreciation to Panday for sharing reflections from her professional journey and to Ovando Melgar for leading the implementation of TWICE Suriname alongside a committee of women and men.

“Only together can we achieve real and lasting transformation,” Nunes da Silva said.

TotalEnergies is leading the development of Suriname’s first offshore project, GranMorgu. 

The GranMorgu development, operated by TotalEnergies, will feature subsea wells tied back to an all-electric drive floating production, storage and offloading vessel being delivered by SBM Offshore in partnership with Technip Energies. The vessel will have a production capacity of 220,000 barrels of oil per day, with first oil expected in 2028.
