New Wave Offshore Energy has been selected as the marine warranty surveyor for ExxonMobil Guyana’s Whiptail development, a US$12.7 billion offshore oil project in the Stabroek Block, the company said on the weekend.
Under the contract, New Wave Offshore will provide risk management and safety oversight services across multiple phases of the project, ensuring compliance with agreed warranties while supporting safe transportation and installation operations.
“The Whiptail MWS award underscores New Wave Offshore’s growth and our commitment to supporting ExxonMobil Guyana’s offshore operations,” said Kyle Eddings, founder and chief executive officer of New Wave Offshore. He added, “We are thankful to ExxonMobil Guyana for the confidence they have placed in our technical capabilities and we look forward to strengthening the partnership we have built together over the past five years.”
New Wave Offshore said the contract aligns with its strategy to establish itself as a leading marine assurance provider in the international offshore energy industry. Chief Strategy Officer Megan Eddings said the company’s marine warranty survey capabilities integrate “specialized technical skills with a deep understanding of offshore energy project dynamics.”
The Whiptail project was planned by ExxonMobil and its partners Hess and CNOOC in Guyana’s Stabroek Block. The project will add 250,000 barrels per day (b/d) to Guyana’s crude production capacity, pushing total offshore output past one million barrels per day when it comes online in 2027.
SBM Offshore is responsible for constructing the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Whiptail development. TechnipFMC is handling the subsea production systems.
